 JANESVILLE -- Those at the Southern Wisconsin Regional Airport are looking to lease more space to help offset potential drops in revenue.  "It's going to be a tough year," said Director Ron Burdick. The total budget for the airport is around $700,000 this year, with the tax levy being $417,000. The airport typically receives about $300,000 from the various businesses that rent space and pay fees.

Monday, October 1st, 2008, Logistics Insight Corp. (LSI) called Helgesen Development Corp. (HDC) to advise that GM was shutting down the Janesville plant and would no longer need HDC's 700,000 square foot assembly & distribution warehouse to supply auto parts for the Janesville GM Assembly Plant after December 2008.

Janesville has a foot in the door in a deal that will bring 80 jobs to Wisconsin, but so does Milwaukee. Wisconsin has agreed to a $47 million deal with Spanish train manufacturer Talgo for two 14-car passenger "train sets" to be built in Wisconsin. The trains would replace aging trains now running between Milwaukee and Chicago. Gov. Jim Doyle made the announcement with Talgo officials Friday in Madison.
